ORGANISATION OF STUDIES

Full-time studies: full-time studies are conducted at the FCBS in Celje. Lectures take place on working days before noon.

Part-time studies: part-time studies are conducted at the FCBS in Celje as well as at the Ljubljana, Maribor, Nova Gorica, Kranj and Murska Sobota units. The organisation of part-time studies is adapted to working students. Lectures and practical work are carried out on working days in the afternoons after 4 pm and on Saturday mornings.

DURATION OF STUDIES

The duration of full-time and part-time studies is 3 years (6 semesters).

ASSESSMENT

Assessment methods (written or oral exams, practical and seminar work grades, presentation grades) are detailed in the syllabus of each individual course.
Exams for full-time students take place during the three exam periods (in January/February, June and September). Exams for part-time students take place 14 days after the final lecture of each course.

PROGRESSION AND COMPLETION OF STUDIES

Full-time students can advance to the 2nd year if they have gained at least 45 credit points (CP) in the 1st year units and paid their tuition fees in full. In order to progress to the 3rd year, full-time students must gain at least 45 CP in 2nd year units, 60 CP in 1st year units and pay their tuition fees in full.

Part-time students can advance to the 2nd year if they have gained at least 20 CP in 1st year units and paid their tuition fees in full. In order to progress to the 3rd year, part-time students must complete all 1st year units (60 CP), gain at least 20 CP in 2nd year units and pay their tuition fees in full.

Students can register the topic of their bachelor thesis only when their remaining obligations consist of no more than two exams.

Students are required to fulfil all study requirements prior to defending their bachelor thesis. Students complete their studies by writing and successfully defending their bachelor thesis (9 CP). By doing this, they gain a total of 180 CP and receive the professional title of Bachelor of Economics.

Conditional Progression
Based on legitimate reasons, the Committee of Student Affairs for Undergraduate Studies can allow a student conditional progression to the next year and set a deadline for completion of the remaining study requirements.

Repeating a Year
Students who do not fulfil the progression requirements can repeat the year. During the course of their studies, students can repeat a year once with no additional tuition fees. The only expenses are enrolment fees in the total sum of EUR 185.

Student Status Extensions
Students can apply for a student status extension of up to one year if:
They cannot progress to the next year for legitimate reasons.
They cannot graduate in 12 months after the end of the last semester for legitimate reasons.

Student mothers can apply for a student status extension of 12 months for every child born during the course of their studies.

ACCREDITATION OF EXAMS AND WORK EXPERIENCE

In accordance with the Rules of knowledge assessment and evaluation of the FCBS, students transferring from other higher education programmes can request an accreditation of exams that correspond entirely or partly with the FCBS study programme. Exams can only be accredited for the study year in which the students are enrolling. Due to changes in social and economic conditions and developments in science, most exams that were taken 10 or more years ago cannot be accredited.

Students with previous work experience can request accreditation of practical work experience. Applications for work experience accreditation must be handed in by 30 June 2010. Applications for exam accreditation must be handed in after enrolment; the deadline is 15 November 2009.
